The Peninsula on Lake Austin
Through the use of glass, steel, detailing, and light Bercy Chen Studio, LLP transformed this 1980s home-builder house fronting Lake Austin into an elegant, innovative, and ecologically sensitive residence.
Reflection, translucency, color and geometry work cooperatively to bring natural light deep into the house. Newly refined detailing of the roof structure abstracts the form of the original dormers further connecting the home to a solarium, pool and the surrounding environment. Landscape designer Patrick Kirwin developed several vegetative roof gardens throughout the property which provide a natural interaction between the inside and outdoors. Contemporary art by Greg Miller, Katherine Sherwood, and Gu Yue provide splashes of color throughout the house complementing the sleek finishes used within. |
