After moving to Arizona as a college student Sara Abbott became a founding member of 3carpileup and Chaos Theory. This group of young artists single handedly pioneered the now vibrant art scene found in the gritty warehouses just south of downtown Phoenix. Acclaimed for her mixed media photography and painting, the layering in Abbott’s work suggests the complexity in every day life.

“My attempt is to make art that helplessly draws the viewer into the work and encourages them to view life differently based on their own intellectual and emotional wiring. I search with my camera for a kind of anonymous beauty that is just within reach but I am not present or disruptive of the environment.”

Sara lives and works in a loft with her husband in Santa Monica, California.
